Insider Info: 140 May Open Soon
Tom has a little insider info he posted over at his site. Looke like they’re working their butts off to get 140 open.
Yosemite Explorer: This is just the first word from Kenny Karst, the DNC public relations guy, after a conference call with CalTrans and others involved. CalTrans has announced that they HOPE to get the bridges on Highway 140 up and functioning by July 29. Be aware that CalTrans is not in any way committing to this date and anything could happen between now and then, but this is good news for a lot of people who’ve been suffering with ridiculous commutes and may take some pressure off Mariposa businesses by saving part of the high season for them. Hopefully CalTrans can pull it off. It remains to be seen if there will be big traffic backups since the bridges will only be single lane.
