Danger Falling Rocks
NPS: “A medium-sized rockfall occurred on the northwest face of Elephant Rock at 3:13 pm Sunday afternoon. A slab fell from the upper eastern edge of the large rectangular scar formed during rockfalls in the early 1970’s. The slab broke into pieces upon impacting the base of the cliff, and debris fell down the talus slope as far as the river. No one was injured. The turnout above Steamboat Bay is closed pending further assessment of the release area.”
