Drowning Victim ID’d
The body of a man found in the Merced River below Vernal Falls footbridge has been positively identified as that of a Santa Clara visitor who disappeared on May 19th after he plunged into the swift flowing river.
FresnoBee.com: Updates: Yosemite drowning victim ID’d: “Park spokeswoman Adrienne Freeman said the body of Kiran Yellajyosula, 27, was spotted by a patrol about 3 p.m. and recovered several hours later about 200 feet below the Vernal Falls footbridge. Positive identification was reported early today.
Yellajyosula fell into the swift-moving river upstream of the footbridge and downstream of the falls on May 19. An extensive search in the following days, hindered by high water fed by spring snowmelt, failed to turn up any sign of the missing man.”
