Photo of the Day: Double-Shot by Edie Howe-Byrne
We’ve been talking about how dry everything is up in the Sierra this year so today’s Photo of the Day is actually a double shot. I wanted everyone to see how bad it actually is. These are some shots of Tenaya Lake Edie snapped. Normally the rocks in the first one are completely submerged but you can see the lines on the rocks where the water level has been. The white isn’t pollution it’s calcium being picked up from the weathering granite.
The second shot shows the waterline on a set of glacial erratics that are normally located at the waters edge. It’s hard to get a sense of perspective but the water has gone down A LOT. This is a very good reminder that Yosemite is still a natural and wild place. Waterfalls dry up. Things catch fire. Rocks fall down. It’s all part of the beauty that is nature.
