Atmosphere
I went to the new Richard Lohmann “Atmosphere” exhibit today. His photos are beautiful, subtle, and quiet.
Lohmann describes his work as metaphor: “For me the use of metaphor is magical because it permits constant reanalysis and defies simplicity. Look at an image once and you may see one thing; look again and you will see more. Metaphor is more that an architect of comparison, it allows me to create links between many things, internal, external, large and small.”
That sounds pretty complicated to a Sierra hillbilly like me. I can’t even spell “obfuscation” without spell check. Don’t worry about that constant reanalysis or architect of comparison stuff, just open your mind and go check it out.
“Atmosphere” will be at the Ansel Adams Gallery through February 26, with an Artist’s Reception on February 16 from 2 - 4 P.M.

I, too, went to view the exhibit and was quite moved by its quiet beauty.
These intimate views not only complement Ansel’s iconic pictures but are equal in emotional impact (IMHO.)
