On this most recent trip to the park the highlight of my day was catching this young bear cropping in a meadow at Crane Flat.
We left home about 3 am and got to Glacier Point in time to catch a marvelous sunrise. Glad I could share it with ya.
Headed up to Yosemite sometime soon? Don’t be alarmed if you see fires or if the air is full of smoke. The 2005 controlled fire season is set to start with fires planned for El Portal and the Wawona areas.
Controlled fires help remove fuels and undergrowth which could otherwise lead to devastating wildfires within the Park. Fire is also a natural process that helps add vital nutrients to the soil systems so that other plants may grow.
Be careful when driving in the park as smoke could present a hazard on some roadways near the fire.
One of the things I noticed yesterday while in the Park is that there is still a lot of road repair being done. If you’re headed up to the Park be prepared to experience short waits on almost all the roads within the Park.
And definitely beware of the potholes! Some are deep enough that minivans that venture too close have been swallowed whole.
