High Fire Hazard

The Angora Fire (pictured above) is serving as a reminder that the Sierra, especially this year is a dry as a tinderbox.

Fires in Yosemite Valley are restricted to the evening hours. If you’re headed to the back country, in or around the park, you’ll want to check conditions up to the very last minute before you leave. Major portions of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) are closed to campfires above 9,000ft. The Stanislaus National Forest, just north and west of Yosemite has put into effect a campfire ban. East of Yosemite the Inyo National Forest has also enacted a similar ban on campfires.

Remember, play it safe
