Jorma from over at Halfdome.net sent me this shot he caught from one of the timelapse movies he puts together of the shots coming off the Yosemite Association Webcams. Is it a reflection of the moon or a UFO full of aliens come to enjoy Yosemite. Take a look at the videos to see if you can figure it out:

It would appear to be Venus.

After an exhaustive 5 minute analysis on my Cray-1 512 processor laptop…I’d say it’s a relection of the moon on the lens. You can see the real moon just after sunrise in video 2. The strong point light is reflected off the front of the camera lens. Did I win?

It is indeed the reflection of the moon on the lenses. Evidently this cam has the ability to focus or zoom meaning it has multiple lenses. At the proper angle the moons light is reflecting of one lens then another giving it the weird look.
Unfortunately I just checked the prize drawer and it appears to be empty so “you sir get nothing.” (what movie was that from. Gene Wilder in something).
Thanks for playing though.
