Tioga Road Open? Not Yet.

Many people have been emailing to ask me, “When will the Tioga Road be open?”

Well I’m sorry to say it won’t be open for Memorial Day and probably not until mid June. The crews are currently working some of the most dangerous avalanche and rock slide areas around Olmsted Point which means slow going for a while. With any luck the Caltrans team from Sonora Pass will be able to work their way in from Lee Vining but it doesn’t appear you’ll have any access to the Tioga Road for a while.

CalTrans opened the road today, four days early.
